November is National Caregiver’s Month

Defining the word caregiver can be a challenge, as caregivers come in all shapes and sizes. They can be a family member, paid professional, friend or kind neighbor. Many professionals choose the path of caregiving. However, the role of caregiver is often one of necessity. Every day people find themselves in unimaginable situations. And as human nature often shows, caregivers rise to the challenges presented, adapt, and soar!

This month HBF recognizes the many different caregivers who are connected to our organization. Those affiliated through the application process, to site visits and project completion. These caregivers/advocates are often the link between HBF and our wonderful clients.

One trait that many caregivers share is compassion. A caregiver can be a father that provides round the clock care to his son/daughter, a professional providing in-home assistance to a lively teenager, a wife helping her husband acclimate after a stroke or even a neighbor/friend aiding with HBF home modification applications.  Caregivers provide a great number of resources, large and small scale, to make the lives of individuals living with disabilities safe and comfortable. These dedicated individuals work tirelessly and find many ways to meet the needs of the people who depend on them.

From assisting with rides to doctor visits and everyday errands, to the nitty gritty of bathing, feeding and nighttime rituals, caregivers put the needs of others first. HBF is honored to recognize November as National Caregivers Month. We know that while defining a caregiver is challenging, being a caregiver can be more so. We SEE you! We applaud you! And we know the difference you make in the lives of our clients. By extension, you are making a difference in the community and the world! Thank you caregivers.
