A Huge Thank You to Our 2024 Guest Speaker: When Frank C. , was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis in early 2021, he immediately took action to increase his safety and independence and reduce the caregiving burden on his wife and five children by purchasing an accessible home, which had already been modified for a previous HBF client. When he began using a power wheelchair, he realized additional modifications were needed and contacted HBF, which upgraded the home’s ramp and installed pull bars and automatic door openers. Frank praised the nonprofit explaining, “The work they do makes a huge difference to someone in a wheelchair who has limited use of his hands like me.” With his renewed independence, Frank recently became an assistant coach for a girls high school basketball team in Castle Rock.
