Annual Celebration Ushers in an Era of Lifetime Support for Those Living with Disabilities

The Annual Celebration is a much anticipated event for the HBF crew and board. It provides the opportunity to thank those who support the vision of elevating the lives of those living with disabilities with their donations of time, expertise and treasure and to gather with colleagues and friends. Perhaps most importantly, it raises critical funds to allow HBF to continue providing home modifications that enhance independence and safety.

This year’s Annual Celebration, sponsored by Alpine Lumber, was held at Wings Over the Rockies Exploration of Flight. Nearly 300 guests enjoyed cocktails and delicious bites while exploring the planes and engaging in friendly competition for amazing silent auction items. Throughout the evening, attendees had the opportunity to engage with clients and hear about the valuable impact that HBF has made in their lives. Client Frank Cawley moved many to tears after sharing his story of being diagnosed with inclusion body myosis in his late 50s and the reclaimed independence that he achieved thanks to the home modifications done by HBF. He concluded by praising the compassion and dedication of the team stating, “HBF’s crew made me feel valued. The progression of my disease is uncertain, but I know that they are always a phone call away.”

HBF Board President, Geoff Haskell, and Executive Director, Beth Forbes, talked about the exponential growth the nonprofit has experienced in recent years – which has resulted in assisting larger numbers of clients and completing bigger projects to allow clients to stay in their own homes. Forbes shared HBF’s 3-year strategic plan, which ushers in a new era of growth with 1,300 projects completed by the end of 2026. Attendees pledged their support for the growth plan with generous contributions during both the live auction and paddle raiser.

With the generous support of the home building industry, HBF is confident that it will achieve the goals outlined in the strategic plan and continue to build independence for even more people living with physical disabilities.
