Welcome Mike Smith to HBF’s Board of Directors

HBF is proud to introduce one of our new Board of Directors, Michael J. Smith (Mike) from North Point Construction, LLC. Mike Smith is a seasoned entrepreneur in the building and real estate sales industry, with over 20 years in construction, sales, and management. Mike will bring these skills to HBF along with his compassion and willingness to help others. Be sure to watch our social media channels to learn more about Mike and other #facesofHBF.

Mike is a seasoned entrepreneur in the building and real estate sales industry, with over 20 years in construction, sales, and management. He was introduced to HBF through one of his clients about a year ago. His client was searching for a home in Denver that was accessible for her daughter, who uses a wheelchair for assistance. His client was so inspirational and knowledgeable on the issues her daughter is facing. She was a true educator for Mike. When she found HBF, he thought no way! Mike wondered how HBF was going to do all the modifications for free and he immediately wanted to know more. Mike dove into volunteering with HBF. He began attending interviews that make him value every day. HBF clients provide Mike inspiration through their strength and determination.

More about Mike!

Mike moved here in Jan. of 2000 to finish out the ski season and then move back the east coast. 22 years later he is still in Colorado, with a wife, two kids, a crazy bird dog and what he calls “an over inflated mortgage!” He loves Colorado!

When we asked, “Have you ever been told you look like a celebrity?” Mike’s response was, “I have been told I look like Jason Bateman and the dude from Dexter, I’ve never watched that show though.” Mike’s favorite sports teams are the Steelers, Penguins, Nuggets, Broncos, and the US National Rugby Team. In fact, he shared that rugby would be his chosen sport if he ever makes it to the Olympics!

Growing up, Mike aspired to be a Motorcross rider, followed by working as an architect. As for now, he is exactly who he wants to be…and boasts, he’s “nailed it”! The HBF Board Member questionnaire asks, “If you were a superhero, what would your power be?” Like most people, Mike would like to be able to fly. But he is very honest when he acknowledges, “It turns out my superpower is sweating.”

Mike will bring his professional skills to HBF along with his compassion and willingness to help others.

We hope you will join us welcoming Mike, and all the new board members.

More about our Board: An HBF board term is typically three years, with an option for two terms. HBF is so fortunate that most of our board members elect to serve two terms. This provides a continuity that is comforting to clients and staff alike.
