At the March 2021 HBF Project Fulfillment Committee meeting, 12-year-old Luke B’s application was on the agenda as a potential HBF project. The parents of Luke, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the age of 3, submitted an application to convert a bedroom in their home to a fully accessible bathroom. In July 2021, our friends at Finished Basement Company asked to be assigned to this project. Luke’s bathroom was completed and celebrated in January 2022.
The FBC team even took this project one step further by adding a Star Wars theme (Luke’s favorite) to the area. Luke is now able to shower, use the lav, wash his hands and brush his teeth more easily and safely.
