Bob S.

Bob is a 68-year-old man who suffers from MS and is confined to a wheelchair. After being referred to the HBF from the National MS Society, Bob applied for assistance in his bathroom including roll in shower, roll under sink, flooring and a door widening/ pocket door to facilitate bathing. Additionally, he needed some carpet to be replaced with hard flooring to facilitate movement within his home. Under the guidance of Project Captain Gano Becker (VanDyk Construction) and with funding assistance from NMSS, Wild West Walkabout, Colorado Alliance for Health and Independence and Friends of Man, the HBF was able to complete this project during the 2012 summer. Besides in-kind donations of labor, material and project supervision from VanDyk Construction, additional donations of labor and material came from CCD Interiors, Fabrications LLC, Ron Earl Plumbing and Green Electric.

At the completion of the project, Bob noted “Being approved by the foundation and then having the modification completed makes my life so much easier and enjoyable. Having a foundation like the HBF gives a person in my situation hope for an improved quality of life”.
