Brian Celebrates 6 years with HBF!

Brian Johnson oversees all aspects of HBF’s Accessible Home Modification program in his role as Program Director. This includes everything from the initial site visit with the client to permitting, budgeting, scheduling, inspection and construction-related support. Johnson spends much of his time in the field, ensuring that the client’s needs are met and managing challenges to ensure the quality and timeliness of each project. One of his favorite parts of his job is the people. “The building community is made up of truly generous people who approach each task with a ‘can do’ attitude,” says Johnson. “And the clients that we support inspire each of us to be thankful for what we have and to strive to do more.”

Johnson joined HBF as a staff member in 2017. Prior to that, he owned his own general contracting firm, Fixation, and volunteered as a Project Captain with HBF. After working on a few early projects for individuals with disabilities, he became well-versed in government contracts and permitting and now utilizes that expertise to assist HBF clients.

In 2021, Johnson initiated a program called Train the Trainer, which provides classroom education and field-based training to volunteers interested in leading home modification projects for individuals with physical disabilities. More than 30 people have participated in the program since its inception.
