Jack K.

Thursday, August 27th – Volunteers from Boise Cascade, Trex and VIP Mortgage came together during the 5th Annual Blitz Build by the Home Builders Foundation (HBF) to build a ramp for Jack K. Jack K. is battling Duchenne Muscular dystrophy. Thanks to the project captian, Saddleback Design, and to the volunteers from Boise Cascade, Trex and VIP Mortgage, Jack K. can now safely and independently access life outside of his home.

Huge thanks to Alpine Lumber and Mike Drennen / ProBuild and Brent Guetz for their help getting all the material to the job.  Thank you to Monte Pool and Brian Gillen for the donations from Simpson Strong-Tie.   HBF Staff (Beth, Bridgid, Carley and Jack) thank you for all of the support and coordination.  Jim Fitzmorris with JR Engineering for the breakfast and lunch!  Many thanks to Boise Cascade for allowing the continued support of the HBF!

“Jack K. is a 15 year old freshman at Standley Lake High School, in Westminster.   He loves Orca whales, Legos, Marvel comics, Star Wars, snow skiing, water skiing, horseback riding, kayaking and participating in his high school marching band.  Jack is affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic muscle wasting disorder.   Jack has been using a power wheelchair full time for about a year & a half and is grateful that HBF has help him with a ramp and roll in shower.” – Angela K., mother of 2015 recipient, Jack K.
