Meet Cruzita – 2019 Blitz Build Recipient

Cruzita Trujillo is a bright, happy, 17-year-old girl. But Cruzita faces more everyday challenges than most girls her age because she is living with Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a rare, severe neurological disorder that affects nearly every aspect of the person’s life including their ability to speak, walk, eat and even breathe easily.

As Cruzita continues to grow, the ability to safely care for her has become more challenging and her family began looking for help. They heard about the Home Builders Foundation (HBF), a metro-Denver based nonprofit that builds independence for those living with disabilities through home modifications, one of the HBF’s community partners, PASCO (Personal Assistance Services of Colorado).

Upon completion of this ramp, Cruzita will now be able to exit and enter her home safely and independently and giving her care givers much needed relief.
