April is National Volunteer Month—a month dedicated to recognizing the importance of volunteering and honoring the significant contributions volunteers 
make. The work we do at HBF is made possible by volunteers who generously donate their time and talents.
Volunteers are a crucial, dedicated component of HBF’s program and governance. These valuable individuals contribute more than 2,100 volunteer hours per year and complete 120 work items. Last year this equated to a community impact value of more than $447,000. Volunteers embody the leadership, commitment, and respect for clients, and their homes, that HBF strives to foster in our communities.
How We Do It!
HBF intentionally matches clients with volunteers whose background or personal connection cultivates meaningful relationships for all involved. Often, these relationships lead teams to donate materials and in-kind labor, enabling HBF to further leverage its funding to increase its sustainability and serve more clients in need. HBF’s Project Captains regularly express the positive impact of their work with HBF clients. Following one of HBF’s annual Blitz Build events, Bill D., HBF Project Captain wrote: “It is very humbling and gratifying to help those who are having such difficulty just getting around or out of their house.” Similarly, Aron O. shared: “The client came outside at the end of the day for a little test run. He couldn’t say thank you enough! It really puts life in perspective! Thanks to HBF for the opportunity.”
There are a variety of ways to get involved with Home Builders Foundation. You can donate your individual time and personal resources, or companies can provide needed materials, manpower and funds. If you enjoy meeting new people, you can sign up to do client interviews/photography. If you prefer to stay behind the scenes, we can use your administrative help. Long term or a couple of hours, skilled or unskilled, HBF has a place for everyone – groups and individuals.

Blitz Build is an annual HBF event scheduled June 9-11, 2022. Blitz Build mobilizes more than 200 volunteer supporters to complete ramps for clients across Metro-Denver.
