HBF Thrilled to Welcome New Board Members for 2021

HBF extends a warm welcome to Mark Keimig (above left) and Dave Highfield who will be joining HBF’s Board. Congratulations to Dave and Mark for being selected to HBF’s 2021 Board of Directors.

HBF has 25+ years dedicated to building independence, providing opportunities and elevating lives for individuals and families living with disabilities. Both Dave and Mark will bring a let’s-get-things-done attitude to the Board to support our mission.

Mark Keimig is General Manager/Owner of Por Mor Construction, specializing in residential foundations. Mark has been involved with HBF for two years. He began his tenure with HBF the same way many others do, Jim Iversen asked him to help out! Mark knows first-hand the impact a disability can have on a family, as his son has a neuromuscular disorder similar to muscular dystrophy. Throughout his life, he and his family have been blessed with other people helping them when needed. Mark feels privileged to give back through HBF.

When Mark isn’t working, he enjoys traveling with his wife and children and looks forward to relaxed travel guidelines so he can include his grandkids in some adventures. He loves exploring new places and meeting people. Mark is no stranger to helping out; in fact, his dream job would be working in an orphanage in a foreign country. We know Mark will be a great addition to our Board.

Dave Highfield is the Owner of Fortress Framing, a respected leader in residential framing. Dave became “hooked” on HBF about eight years ago. He loves being so involved with a “hands-on” charity where he and his team can put their skills to work in order to improve the lives of others. He embodies the spirit of HBF, knowing the work we provide is a wonderful service and he feels lucky to participate.

Dave is an avid fly-fisherman and he would consider competing in the Olympics, if only they would sanction fly fishing! He is a great sports fan and dad, claiming his favorite team is “any team my kids are playing on” and he still believes the Broncos could win the SuperBowl this year. Once upon a time Dave considered himself invisible to girls, but he was very visible on the baseball field. In fact, he even played with the idea of going pro!

If you happen to see our new board members at Starbucks, treat Mark to a caramel macchiato. And Dave, well you probably won’t see him at the local Starbucks, but he’s always up for a glass of chocolate milk.

Both new board members agree, the feeling you have when a project is complete is unparalleled. The very best thing about being a part of HBF is meeting the clients and their families and truly making an immediate difference to their lives. Dave recalls sharing tears with Jackie S. several years ago as his team completed her deck and ramp. Jackie cried because she was finally able to tend to her roses on her own. Dave’s emotion came from within, knowing he had made a life-changing impact for his new friend.

Please take a minute to reach out and welcome Dave and Mark to the HBF team. Board positions are full this year, but contact Beth if you’re interested in joining the list for 2022. And, in the meantime, Annual Sponsorships for 2021 are still available for a few more weeks! And as a reminder, in accordance with current guidelines, no individual tickets will be sold for 2021 events. Participation is only guaranteed through Sponsorships. For opportunities on how to get involved with HBF contact Lauren Knudsen.
